Strategies

How do we get there?

  1. Focus on wise and progressive Planning
  2. Continued emphasis on strong Public Safety
  3. Laser focus on Prosperity (Economic Development/ Economic Opportunity)

Tactics (What specifically?)

Planning
  • Commitment to visionary planning (look past immediate needs)
  • Financial commitment to Infrastructure (Roads, Water Supply, Sewers, Storm Water and Parks)
  • "Growing Green" (smart growth that creates homes while still preserving our signature landscape, the horse farms)
  • Partner with State and Federal governments to be a Regional Leader
  • Recognize the world will be coming here in 2010!
  • Understand it always boils down to NEIGHBORHOODS (where we live)!
Public Safety
  • Commitment to the individuals who serve in public safety (commitment to compensation, equipment and morale)
  • Leveraging the fact we are one of America's safest cities
  • Develop regional disaster organization and infrastructure
  • Recognize the world will be coming here in 2010!
  • Understand it always boils down to NEIGHBORHOODS (where we live)!
Prosperity
  • Inventory the assets Lexington has to leverage and then leverage them
  • Understand what are the sustainable jobs in today's economy (the jobs that create new jobs)
  • Work to retain the best and brightest (stop the brain drain)
  • Act locally but think (and sell) globally
  • Recognize the world will be coming here in 2010!
  • Understand it always boils down to NEIGHBORHOODS (where we live)!
